Murder suspect nabbed for stabbing a 29 year old

“We are investigating a case of murder following the fatal stabbing,” said Sergeant Khalipha Mvula of the Lenasia South SAPS.

A 27-year-old suspect is behind bars following the fatal stabbing of a 29-year-old man on Sunday, July 30, in Hospital Hills’ Morapedi’s Tarven.

“It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect had a heated argument over a female companion while they were inside the tavern.”

According to Sergeant Mvula, both men thrown out of the tavern because of their violent behaviour.

The two allegedly continued to fight while they were outside the tavern, which resulted in the suspect stabbing the victim in the neck before fleeing the scene.

“The victim was rushed by his friends to the nearest hospital; unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. The suspect was immediately traced and was taken into custody and charged with murder.”

The suspect is expected to appear at the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 1.

In another separate incident, a body of a 43-year-old man was found with a stab wound on his neck.

“The lifeless body was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, July 30, in Vlakfontein. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage and no arrests have been made so far

“As police, we convey our heartfelt condolences to the affected families and wish to guarantee them that our experienced detectives will work around the clock to ensure that those who have committed these crimes will be brought to book to face the full might of the law,” added Mvula.

Police urge the public to assist them with information that could assist in arresting the suspect by contacting their nearest police station or by calling Crime Stop on 08600 10 111 or by sending an anonymous tip off to Crime Line on 32211.
