The Gauteng Department of Education says it is highly disappointment after seeing a video of a teacher speaking about sex to learners instead of teaching maths.

According to The Daily Sun, clever pupils at Lenasia’s Topaz Secondary school decided to prove to their parents why their maths marks were not pleasing.

They recorded their teacher who, during teaching time, was talking about sex.

Last week, the pupils showed the evidence to their parents, who had been worrying about their children’s maths marks.

One parent said she started worrying when she saw that her daughter’s marks for the first and second terms were the same.

The pupils’ parents met with the schools principal to discuss the teacher’s behaviour.

The principal said he would lodge a complaint with authorities as he did not have the power to suspend the teacher.

Gauteng Department of Education spokesman, Steve Mabona, said, “We are disappointed and strongly condemn the action by the educator. Educators must not cease their responsibility to be guardians and role models. Disciplinary charges will definitely be laid as soon as we verify the necessary information.”
