Electricity box causing stink in Lenasia CBD

For over two months the electrical box has been unattended.

An open electricity box in the Lenasia CBD has raised the ire of  business owners in the area.

The box, situated in Concorde Place, has been left open for the past two months.

“We reported it and still nobody has attended to it. They are waiting for someone to die first, before doing anything,” said Mr Mohammed, a business owner.

A few wires were already burnt out in the box, which puts electricity supply in the area at risk as well.  The box is missing a door, and according to Mohammed, vagrants have now started using one of the plugs to charge cell phones. The box is also used as a wardrobe as vagrants store their blankets and clothes in it during the day.

“The rear end of the electricity box is being used as a toilet and there are faeces all over the place. The smell emanating from there is unbearable. It is a health hazard,” Mohammed added.

Mohammed, along with other business owners, contacted City Power and reported the problem. However, two months have gone by and nothing has been done about it.
