Parents, learners demand placement at MH Joosub Secondary School

On January 23, parents and learners demanded placement at MH Joosub Secondary School in Lenasia.

The parents and learners locked themselves in the school’s reception area and chanted: “So lalala” (meaning we will sleep here).

“We were guaranteed space for our children and  were told to return to the school today, with our children dressed in school uniform,” said one of the parents.

“When we arrived at the school, we are told it was full. They then directed us to the Department of Education. Why didn’t they tell us this previously when we called at the school?”

According to the parents, they are only looking for their children to placed in Grades 9,10 and 11.

The acting principal, deputy principal and secretaries were locked in their offices.

Police were called to the scene.
