Recently, a few parents from Apex Primary gathered outside the school. The parents were there to clean the school, but more importantly, they wanted the principal to vacate his post. Parents are adamant that the school is in a bad state and that the health of learners is at stake.
Speaking to the Rising Sun, community leader Fehme Gani said, “The parents are demanding that GDE (Gauteng Department of Education) senior officials attend to the learners’ problems. They want the classrooms to be cleaned. They also want the school finances to be audited as they want to know how the school’s money is being spent. We had a similar protest three months ago but nothing has changed. We need transparency as far as the school’s finances are concerned.”
