The South African Police Service is investigating a murder following the discovery of a body in an open veld adjacent to Naledi Bridge in Protea North, on Sunday, September 2, at around 9 am.
A passer-by alerted the police to the body and upon their arrival, the police found that the deceased had suffered head injuries. The 35 year old, who had been seen in the company of his friends on Friday afternoon, was certified dead by paramedics.
“The motive for this murder has not yet been established, but the police will investigate every possibility to ensure that those involved are brought to book,” said Lenasia SAPS spokesperson, Sergent Khalipha Mvula.
In a separate incident, which occurred on the same day at around 6 am, a 26-year-old security guard was shot and fatally wounded in Protea South.

“The deceased was found with gunshot wounds to the head and chest. The motive for the murder is still unknown. A case of murder has been opened for further investigation,” said Sgt.Mvula.
