Soraya Raymond, the secretary at Libra Primary School, has retired after 28 years of service. Her career began in 1989 at Greyville Primary and she was transferred to Libra a year later. During her tenure, she served under a number of principals and touched the lives of many. Besides her many administrative duties, Miss Raymond was also involved in many learner initiatives and ensured that the teachers were honoured and rewarded.
On 27 September, Libra Primary hosted a farewell party in her honour, at the Taste of India Restaurant. In his emotionally-charged farewell address, the principal, Mr. D.T. Singaram, praised Miss Raymond and spoke of her dedication, commitment, loyalty and immeasurable contribution to the school.
Miss Raymond looks forward to her well-earned retirement, spending quality time with her family and focusing on her spiritual upliftment. The SGB, staff and learners of Libra Primary wish her happiness and contentment in her well-deserved retirement. She will be missed by all. The closing verses of the poem dedicated to Miss Raymond sum it up aptly
“AS A CHAPTER CLOSES AND A NEW ONE BEGINSMAY YOUR DAYS BE ENVELOPED WITH GOODWILL AND YOUR HOPES & ASPIRATIONS FULFILLED!”
